Esperanza Strings is an after-school music ministry that is supported by a local church located at an elementary school in their community providing a life-changing opportunity and healing by experiencing music.

Our mission is:

  • Helping forge paths of agency for their futures by learning a string instrument at a high-level.

  • Allowing local churches to become a home, resource, and a place of safety with the hope to empower and build deep transformational relationships.

  • Targeting first-generation college students, and college students of color as String Educators to empower them in leadership roles in Esperanza Strings in partnership with local universities.

Nicole Melrose

Founder/CEO StringRise

The moment Nicole touched the violin at 11 years of age, a ringing sound of hope was produced. Coming from a background of socio-economic hardship and experiencing the struggles of a first-generation Arab-American, the violin provided Nicole with a way to express herself and hope for a bright future. At the age of 15, she knew she wanted to start a program for children like herself who could not afford access to high-quality string programming.
